Recreational Breakdance once a week for sudents in Kindergarten - Grade 3
In these introductory-level classes, students will learn the foundations of breaking (breakdancing) such as top rock, footwork, and freezes. Dancers will also learn the importance of good conditioning and stretching.
Each week, our amazing teachers will lead students through a jam-packed warm up, skills development, and freestyle exercises. Dancers will be encouraged to use their creativity and to develop their own personal style.
The recreational breakdance program includes opportunities for students to participate in battles and other special events, as well as one evening of performance at Art from The Heart, our year-end recital at the Yukon Arts Centre.
For students in Grade 1
Breakdance 1 is designed for Grade 1 students eager to learn the basics of breaking. This class focuses on building foundational skills, including top rock, footwork, and freezes, while emphasizing creativity and self-expression. With a mix of skills development, freestyle practice, and fun activities, Breakdance 1 is the perfect introduction to the world of breaking.

For students in Grade 2-3
Breakdance 2 offers Grades 2-3 students a deeper dive into the art of breaking. Dancers will refine their skills in top rock, footwork, and freezes, while exploring more advanced techniques and freestyle creativity. This program encourages teamwork, confidence, and individuality, preparing students for exciting performance opportunities and community events.

For students in Kindergarten
Kinderbreak is a fun and energetic introduction to breaking for Kindergarten students. Young dancers will explore foundational moves like top rock, footwork, and freezes in a supportive and playful environment. With engaging warm-ups, creative exercises, and freestyle opportunities, Kinderbreak helps kids develop coordination, confidence, and their own unique style.

Prices include yearly tuition and a costume/production performance fee. Monthly installment plans over 11 months are available and include a 5% installment charge. The first payment is due the day of registration, and subsequent payments are due on the 1st of each month from September 1st to June 1st.
*Please note that the monthly prices stated are NOT monthly payments - they are installments as all participants must commit to the full year.
A late registration fee of $40 will be effective after August 27, 2024.
Required Supplies
Required attire for Recreational Breakdance classes:
- Comfy clothes (sweat pants or shorts and a t-shirt)
- Indoor runners
- Water bottle
